Hello all. This is Rho, just saying hi from København, Denmark, on vacation. Denmark is great - full of old and new, Pølser hot dogs, Danish danishes, blondes, Carlsberg beer (”Probably the Best Beer in Town”), Legos, furniture, and food that is twice the price of good ol’ American meals. They do have a small fantasy/anime store here, which is nice.
BrokenAnime will be back on schedule reviewing very soon - bear with us as we enjoy the last bits of summer and procrastination. I will continue to review Blade of the Immortal and Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu as soon as I get back (from Greece next, actually). …unfortunately I can’t really speak for Kazeryu or Ryo, but I think they’ll post some soon. In Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine and The Anime Insider, it has been confirmed that the samurai and ronin action manga, Blade of the Immortal will become an anime series starting this summer. It will be directed by Koishi Mashimo, and produced by Bee Train. This saga involving historical action, drama, revenge, philosophy, as well as excellent art by Hiroaki Samura is a masterpiece in many aspects, and is one of my favorites.

EMERALD CITY COMICON ‘08 - AN OVERVIEW
The Emerald City ComiCon is a 2-day long Seattle-wide comics convention hosted in the Washington State Trade and Convention Center. The convention, like Sakuracon, centers around merchandise booths, artists booths, and seminars. However, at ECC, cosplay/costuming makes a very limited appearance, animation is not shown, and there are no concerts or other massive events. ECC is a much smaller festival, with much less hype, and much cheaper (depending on how you spend your money) than Sakuracon. While this all so, the ECC is a convention that has much to offer in the areas outside of Japanese manga/anime, especially in the realms of superhero, sci-fi, alternative, and avant-garde comics from the States.
We at BrokenAnime wish that this following overview will offer you an accurate insight into the ECC, and hopefully encourage you to attend if haven’t in the past, and perhaps expand your horizons into the many facets of American comics. This overview will cover the basic descriptions of the ECC, then will review the great aspects as well as what we’d like to see in the future from the ECC.
If you don’t like reading too much, you can skip down to the bottom of the text sections and read “TO SUM IT ALL UP” instead.

but:
Series from the manga/anime list that have been reviewed/blogged now have their names in bold blue. This can be changed to a difference color or underline or removed completely.

RHO’s Quick Ratings on things like Animation, Plot, etc are quick scores given to various smaller categories based on a scale from 1 to 10. These are quick “reviews” so to say, if you don’t feel like reading all of a series’ archives. On the Anime/Manga list tab, the names of series with a bold green Quick Ratings have such ratings.
10 or so “secret” links placed. This time, there are no clues unless you peek in on the code. The links look just like regular text. If you can find Snake, kudos.
