Rito and his dream come true. Perhaps a nightmare?
Episode 12 “Trembling with Fear! The Athletic Festival” at a glance:
Lately, things haven’t been going so smoothly for Rito… but all that is about to change! Or at least, so he hopes. Today is the day of the co-ed athletic festival at Rito’s school, and hes not about to let this opportunity to impress Haruna slip by. Lala and Saki Tenjouin duel it out as Saki naturally tries to reclaim her seat as the queen of the school, leaving Rito and Haruna free to their own devices. As the day wears on and Rito’s clumsy actions get interpreted as perverted attempts to make a grab at Haruna, he sinks deeper and deeper into a funk. When Haruna gets knocked out at a “swim-jousting” match in the pool, Rito carries her to the infirmary where his one perfect chance with Haruna gets interrupted by his ditsy fiancé.

Maybe I can learn to love Haruna too.
Review: No room for Lala?
I guess I’m just a little biased, but why is Rito so obsessed with Haruna anyways? I mean… I think I’d be alright with it if Rito made a real decisive choice, but the reality is that he lives with, eats with, walks to school with, is engaged to… and even sleeps with Lala. I know that he has never once said that he cares for Lala, but it sure seems like it… or maybe I’m just picking up on hints that aren’t there. Oh well, I guess hes just one of those guys that wants what they can’t have, but fails to realize something amazing thats there for him already (been there, done that).
In any regards, this episode is jam-packed with oppai, more oppai and a pinch of comedy. I have to say that Ren returning to the relay race with a “legendary sword” and split apart the school was pretty priceless. Also, for some reason, every time the sensei-commentators were handed the microphone made me sit back in my chair laughing.

Unlike Rito’s father who is constantly busy with work, Lala’s father, the king of Deviluke, is busy conquering the universe! But now, to Rito’s surprise, he’s coming to Earth. Whether to conquer it, or give Rito his blessings, we’ll just have to wait and see on the next episode of To Love-Ru, “The Number One Man in the Universe”!
