Soul Eater meets the Middle Ages.
Episode 09 “Holy Legendary Sword〜Kid and Black☆Star’s Big Adventure?〜“at a glance:
Although Soul Eater’s condition is still not fully known, this doesn’t mean the adventure stops for Kid and Black Star. While doing make-up lessons cleaning up the library, Kid and Black Star come across a book telling them the story of Excalibur and how whoever pulls it out of the stone becomes a hero. Naturally, they track it down and give it their best go. Strangely, both of them end up pulling Excalibur out of the stone, making them both the “chosen heroes”. Little do they know that although Excalibur is powerful and works well with most souls’ wavelengths, his annoying and stubborn nature makes him almost impossible for anyone to work with him. After finding out that he is so annoying, Kid and Star go back home to find Soul Eater out of bed, hopefully fully recovered.

Review: This is probably the first episode so far that didn’t amaze me with something new… Not to say that it was a bad episode, but it just didn’t bring much new to the table.
Plus, Excalibur is really annoying. Just watching Star and Kid deal with him made me stressed out, although it was pretty hilarious. And I seriously underestimated how neurotic Death the Kid really is. Making Black Star carry him through the tunnel… why didn’t he just use his skateboard… Besides his strong soul and powers, he’s really quite the useless character when it comes to anything relatively normal.
Preview: Black Star and Tsubaki challenge the Demon Blade Masamune. Will they be able to kill them and finally earn some respect at Shibusen?

LOL! I agree with you, the episode itself didn’t deliver much and Kid is pretty useless, but I still love him. I didn’t find Excalibur annoying! I found him rather adorable!

I’d say the expression that black star, Kid and that fairy sported after meeting Excalibur sums up my thoughts about this episode. Excalibur is hilarious, but at the same time awfully annoying! And he doesn’t wear pants! >_<
yeah this episode was really boring. I hope this is just a one time thing because Soul was hurt. Excalibur wasn’t just annoying but also extremely gay. I wish to god I could kill him with fire.
