Episode 08 “Witch Medusa〜Great Evil Possessing One’s Soul?〜” at a glance:

When all hope seems to be lost for Maka and Soul, Death Scythe and Stein show up to save the day. They had been ordered by Shinigami-sama to come and destroy Chrona before he fully developed into a Demon God. Stein easily outmaneuvers Chrona’s sword and needles. To save her minion, Medusa the witch, who had been watching from above, is forced to intervene. She had been hiding her soul’s wavelength before, but when she releases it, it’s one of the most powerful things that Maka has ever felt/seen, making her quiver at the thought of having to one day kill a witch like her. Although Death Scythe and Stein use resonance of souls to make Medusa retreat, Soul is still horribly wounded. Although Stein seals up Soul’s wounds, he doesn’t tell Maka that the demon sword infected Soul Eater, and he is actually unsure of what will happen to Soul. When the nurse at Shibusen comes in to check on them, we find out that she’s none other than the witch Medusa they had been fighting earlier.

Soul definitely got some brownie points there.

Review: God this episode is intense. Plus Stein is a total badass in this episode, not the typical clumbsy, joking professor and scientist. Also, I’m wondering if this infection is going to give Soul some “special abilities” that we see all too often in anime (*cough Bleach*).

Okay… I shouldn’t have been sitting in the library while watching this episode, because the 10 seconds that Black Star are in towards the end, where he totally throttles Soul Eater, made me laugh uncontrollably and very audibly disturbing at least a dozen fellow library-goers. Sorry people :/.
