Soul Eater - 01

Note: Since I’m a few weeks late in blogging about this series, normally I would do all the first few episodes together, but I’m splitting it up because of the massive amount of pictures. (I’m sorry people, but this series is really that good.)

OP: “resonance” by T.M.Revolution

The opening sequence starts off with an intro of the soul world and the shinigami (death gods) lead by the head Shinigami-sama (seen in image 4).

T.M.Revolution’s hit single resonance then kicks in and, I’ll be honest with you all, it’s one of the best OPs that I have ever seen. From the moment it starts, you get pumped up to the upbeat music. Also, you get your first taste of the creative artwork that helps make Soul Eater so great. The main characters are all introduced as the viewer quickly flies through the town. The tone of the song even feels like it’s about shinigami, with a very Gothic tone to the guitar.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 - 04

Episode 04 “The Scaffold of Counterattack” at a glance:

The true nature of Rolo’s geass is revealed to be that it stops the perception of time of those around him, rather than time itself. Lelouch convinces him that if he would let him live, he would bring C.C. to him at the execution scheduled for later. Meanwhile, Li Xingke uses the opportunity created by Lelouch to kill the traitorous Chinese Eunuch General.

Kanokon - 04

Episode 04 “Can’t Take it off Anymore?” at a glance:

Looking to outdo Nozomu, once again, Chizuru sneaks into a room in the school full of cursed objects and decides to put on a bunny suit. Naturally, the bunny suit turns out to be cursed and she isn’t able to take it off, forced to go around school in permanent cosplay.

Lucky Star… the horror, the horror.

Warning: So cute I may lose my heterosexuality.

So what is the deal with a show that is entertaining, but at the same time, I’m ashamed to have seen it…
It’s probably because I’m half Japanese, the white side of me can’t stand this show.
Here’s a good test for whether or not you loved the show.
If you wind up gripping your ears and ripping out your eyes, Lucky Star probably wasn’t the best anime you ever watched.

Kanokon - 03

*** Warning: Some mature content and sexual references. This is public TV material, so theres nothing too gratuitous, but please be over the age of 13 to continue reading. And if you’re still immature enough that you giggle when you heard the word “vagina” out loud… you probably should consider turning back as well…

Episode 03 “I’m going to feast on you?” at a glance:

One thing that isn’t seeming to get better over time is Chizuru’s cooking. Although she tries her best for him, it usually turns out to be somewhat less-than-edible. In order to win over Kouta, both Chizuru and Nozomu start to cook him a love-obento every day, which turns into a type of cooking showdown.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 - 03

Episode 03 “The Academy of Imprisonment” at a glance:

Lelouch feigns innocence with proof that he was at the school the entire time Zero’s broadcast was being aired. The show turns even more like Death Note as Lelouch is constantly under surveillance, waiting for him to make a fatal error. Rolo is still a mysterious piece of the puzzle that Lelouch has to unravel since he cannot recall when and how Rolo became involved with him. One thing is for certain though, Rolo definitely holds some type of sincere endearment to Lelouch, clutching on to their locket all the time.

Manga First Impressions 01: Kieli, Kamiyadori, Chibi Vampire

Often times when browsing the shelves at my local bookstore, I’ll pick up a few manga to see if they have any potential. When choosing the books that I’ve done for today, it wasn’t necessarily because they were new or unknown, but rather that I had never read them before and either the artwork stood out to me, the storyline stood out to me, or I had heard from another source that it was a good book. So without further adieu, here are the books I bought this week I thought I should share with you.

Note: All the photography is done by myself, Ryo. I apologize for the shabby quality. I did this pretty quickly, I’ll take a little more time in the future.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 - 02

Overview of episode 02 - “Japan Independence Plan”:

Through Karen and Lelouch’s memories, the outcome of the showdown at the end of season 1 is finally revealed. Karen had fled from the scene, feeling betrayed by Lelouch. Neither of the bullets from Lelouch or Suzaku’s guns had hit their mark, and Suzaku took Lelouch down by force, taking him alive to see the Emperor. There, Lelouch was restrained from using his Geass and Suzaku asked for a promotion to “Knight of the Rounds” (an elite group directly under the emperor), selling out his friend.

The Emperor decides to keep Lelouch alive and does something quite unanticipated to restrain Lelouch. The Emperor uses Geass on him! His geass, it seems, has the power to manipulate someones memories. He makes Lelouch forget all about his identity, his sister Nunally and creates false memories (such as his brother) to put Lelouch back into a normal life.

Things are heating up at Babel tower, as Zero easily outmaneuvers the Britanian army. Although Karen has her own questions about Lelouch’s lies to her, all of his followers carry out his orders without fail. Things are going smoothly until a new prototype knightmare based on the old Lancelot that Suzaku piloted appears and quickly plows through many of the Black Knights.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 - 01

Note: As you may have realized, this is the sequel to the original Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion series, and many parts of this show / review / summary assume that you have seen the last series in its entirety (I’m sorry, but thats just the way this second series was made :/).

OP: “O2″ by ORANGE RANGE

This opening sequence hints at the awesomeness that is to come in the series. The song has a very upbeat pop-rock type of melody and it matches really well with the animations. Also, the opening slides show all of the old main characters in it, along with a few extras (which immediately answered some cliffhanger questions for me from the last series).
